Word Challenge

I do love words. Put together in coherent fashion they constitute language, and language facilitates thought, communication and progress.

My favorite words for today:
*vanquish
*lathe

*order
*intent
*crimson
*wash

The list is simple, as is my request. If you are reading this, comment using one or all
of the words, OR write a post on your own blog using the words, and kindly direct me to it. Don't make my next favorite word list include "bozo". cheerio!

Sorry, got no time for your word game today! I have to wash my lathe with intent, in order to vanquish crimson rust.

Clever girl, made me laugh!

Mytypewriter.com is a villain who needs to be vanquished. A vanquished villain awash in a sea of crimson and black, ink and order swirling over his head filling his nose with tiny moveable type and justice.

I don't know what his intent was, the song is hardly a song: he pretty much strums one chord except on instrumental breaks between verses, and sings in a monotone: so that the sounds of the consonants, the rhythm of the words, the alliteration and near-rhymes (poppy rubber radar rags), the associative/dissociative order of them, wash over the listener. I don't think Peter Sinfield ever used such a technique to vanquish concepts with King Crimson lyrics. I'm having a hell of a time fitting "lathe" into this, but I'm not going to get into a lather about it. Ow! Ow! Ow!

I'll do anything to avoid being called a bozo!

Slick, I finally get your comment after reading your post today. Doh! Don't be too hard on the villain. Just call him up and explain yourself. Get him on your side and maybe he'll find you a good deal!

famjaztique said...

No, Sum-o-the-Num, I don't know that song. Wait, maybe I do.

What I do know is that you always manage to have ever bit of obscure knowledge tucked away. I imagine the inside of your brain to be like a store of antiques, oddities and rare books. Towers and stacks of the most unusual things.

ttractor, good, my plan worked...at least on three of you. I happen to know that there were more than three people who visited my site the day I posted this, so I guess they're all bozos.

Sorry, I did give proper warning. You all still have time to redeem yourselves...but not much.

No, he deserves the lathe of justice. I checked his other wins, and they're all sniper bids on perfectly in-tact typewriters which he buys for a steal (quite literally) and then marks up 500% to re-sell (no exaggeration).

I do not like Charles Gu (owner of typewriter.com).

famjaztique said...

Oh, now you're getting slanderous!
You really ARE angry!

Tell you what, I'll keep my eye out when I go crawling around the next flea-market (or inside num-num's brain, I'm sure he's got at least one typewriter up there), and if I find you one I'll send it to you without so much as a one-cent mark up.

slickaphonic said...

It's because you care.

Yeah, I'm still working on letting rage go. But rampant capitalism--or any injustice, really--still ruffles all my feathers.

ttractor said...

this sounds like a very lucrative side business, if you only had the scratch to out bid him on one...then you would have one of those odd, glamorous jobs you admire so much--vintage typewriter merchant!

slickaphonic said...

Don't think I haven't been fantasizing about it...But I would never sniper bid out of principle.

Oh, but I've got dreams. Big dreams.

ttractor said...

Dude, you'd make an awesome sniper. Equip yourself and go forth to do justice!

I have nothing to add except that the verification word is zewrmzie and I love it.

Carry on.

eosrneb is a nice verification, too.
So I intent to vanquish the momentum of the lathe of life and pick a crimson snapdragon in order to wash my sorrows away.

famjaztique said...

Hi alke, thanks for your contribution! I love snapdragons.
